Wild Mountain Thyme
This is a short and (hopefully) sweet arrangement of the traditional Scottish melody Wild Mountain Thyme that I made recently and have been teaching. It's also known as "Will ye go lassie go". I'm posting the tab/ notation and wma audio file if anyone would like to have a look (or listen). I hope it displays ok - I'm not really sure what I'm doing.
Anyway - it's based around the main chords of the key of G major (G, D, C Em and Am) and lasts less than a minute - so all in all not too difficult.
Right.. Here goes - click...

Thanks Joe - I'm glad it uploaded too but the tab image didn't come out as I expected. I thought it would show up large under my text instead of as a thumbnail. Even clicking the thumbnail opens it in a browser window which is still unreadable - until I "save image as...". Am I doing something wrong?

I had no trouble seeing the tab Fret. Did you click the magnify icon over next up from the thumbnail?

Thanks AT. I've always liked that melody. Joe I uploaded the picture as a jpg. I see another option too which is "insert image" - I was wondering how that is different to just uploading an image as a file.

AT - I don't see any magnify icon next to the thumbnail. When I put the mouse pointer over it, it says click to see larger image - which opens in a new browser - still too small. Should I see an icon?

I think you can use insert image on the advanced part where you would have uploaded you wma file, but as allthumbs said the image looks fine using the magnify image button on IE and its as clear as anything

Hey Fret,
Very nicely done. The flourishes were done with finesse! There is nothing much dearer to my heart than a melody from Scotland.
Well done indeed. I have grabbed the tab! Thank you for that!
I have been thinking of celtic music all day!
Les

Beautifully played Fretsource, I too will also be adding this straight to the top of my 'to-learn' list.
For anyone else who is having difficulty seeing the tab - clicking on the thumbnail will open the full-size image in another browser window. However, if the image is larger than the browser window it will be resized again. If you hover your mouse pointer over the image you should see an icon appear that looks like an orange box with an arrow coming out from each corner. Clicking on this icon will make the tab appear as a full-size image.

You click the thumbnail then put the mouse on the tab sheet and click again.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
