Looking for a honest review
Hi everyone I'm still a beginner after nearly 2 years I still can't play too good but that won't stop me from inflicting my bad noises on other peoples ear drums
I am looking for a totally honest review warts and all so to say , I know I made a bit of blunder in there ( you will hear it )but I made the same blunder about 10 times and I finally said bugger it this is as good as I am .
I am only practicing open chords in the key of C ...
Thank you in advance ( input ear plugs now )

Nothing wrong with that at all, Hilch. Smooth changes and good strumming, picking out different strings within each chord. Perhaps it's just my bad ear but it didn't sound totally in tune.

Sounds good to me, strumming in such a way thats keeps the listners interest is a great skill in my opinion and I think you have it......Shame I do not by hey something for me work on.
Is this a actual piece or a exercise that you are following? I would quite like to have a go at this myself.

Hey Hilch!
I think you just need to play to post more! Record yourself a lot, and things like tuning will start to become evident to you as you listen. But you've got the chord formation and rhythm down well!! The one thing I would advise would be to (if you haven't already) follow Kirk's lesson on strumming patterns . I think if the strumming pattern you used was more consistent throughout and steady, that would be like night and day - and you'd see a huge improvement. I think it's one of Kirk's early lessons on strumming. Forgive me if you already followed it.... If you can't find it, let me know and I'll look it up for you.
But overall you did a great job and had the chords and rhythm set. Pay attention to tuning (easy) and strumming patterns, and you'll take a huge leap in no time! And keep recording and posting here! That's the only way to hear yourself and find out what others hear as well!

Sounded nice to me, and a catchy strumming pattern. I wish we'd get more beginner recordings. I know I've been falling down on the job. But I'm working on it.

The rhythm sounds pretty good and steady. Yes, something was a bit out of tune, but not horrible.

Hey Hilch,
Sounded good! Ended kind of abrubtly, but good just the same. I agree with fly and Misty that those of us who aren't as accomplished need to be posting more often. I still remember my first post here. I was pretty proud of it, but then Allthumbs rightly told me it sounded more like a backing track and had no melody! He was right, and I've been trying to add more variety to my guitar playing ever since. So, a little push in the right direction goes a long, long way!

Ditto, Jim......
You know, I think a cool thing would be to take those chords, exactly as they are, and try different rhthyms and speeds. Just to get a feel for all the possibilites.
I think you're well on your way, hilch! Keep posting!

Hey thanks a lot everyone
I was a bit scared to post this , as when I listen to it ..
Well it doesn't sound too good to me ( I might be a little hard on myself wanting more and more all the time )
Krissovo - It's not a piece , it's just chords in the key of C and how I have been practicing them , by memory it was , ( all open chords )
G - Am - Em - G - C - G - Am -G- Am -Em - G - C
I think I usually just decide key of C today = and play the chords I feel comfortable playing ( did you notice I never mentioned that dreaded F chord ?)
Canucktodd - Yeah it did end ubruptly because I muddled the ending up 4 times as well as making the same mistake on my last change to Em . So i decided just to cut the ending off and live with my error on Em and make sure I don't do it again ...
The ending was suppose to be a little walk down the notes in the C chord , oh well next time hey ...
Thanks again everyone
