  Ventures - Walk Dont Run

Wow, I'm glad I found this site. Listening to other people play is inspirational.

I'm 50 and have been wanting to play guitar all my life but could never stick with it long enough to learn more than a few chords. Anyway, a few months ago I decided to give it another try and have been really sticking with it. So here's the closest to a whole song I know.

^^^You will be

Sounds great! you seem to able to play both the rythem and the lead parts, and the recording is good. Now you'll have to take a crack at laying down the rythem, then adding that lead on top.

oh, -You only have 2 years on me

Good effort fly!

That's what I call a "good buzz" song. It gives ya a good buzz when you can play it from start to finish doesn't it? BTW, welcome aboard!

Thanks for all the encouraging words. I think I take on PickNGrin's suggestion and work on adding the rhythm track. That will be a good challange. I'm not sure that I can keep the timing that well yet. I'll post it when it's done.

coldethyl, you're right on with that comment. It does feel good when you get all the way through it.

seagull, I see you are also in the Orlando area. I live in Altamonte Springs. Do you know of any good teachers that you could recommend?

fly135. Where did you pick up this piece? Walk Dont run was one of the first instrumentals I learned when I was in my late teens. I owned an electric back then (40 years ago) and it was the music that attracted my wife's attention. I lived in the apartment above her and I kept practising over and over, trying to get it just right. Now I play it like you, as an unplugged instrumental. It remains one of my favourites to this day.

It's a Guitar Pro tab. I can email it to you and you can download the Guitar Pro demo. Or I can export it as a PDF file and send it. The web site www.mysongbook.com is full of Guitar Pro tabs. It's a great program for only $60.

Thanks. Personally I prefer Tabledit, which I've owned from its first release.

The Ventures actually had a long playing record and book some years ago that taught some of their greatest hits. But I learned it the hard way just listening to the record on radio.
