  Earth's Cry Heavens Smile

Here's a classic by Carlos Devadip Santana (Europa)...this melody's been in my head all day, did the best I could from memory, recorded on 84 Jap Strat,Line 6 Spider amp, and my all too notorius but faithful 10 buck PC mic.
It's riddled with flubs, but man it felt good to get out of my system after practicing finger picking on an acoustic for the past 2 weeks any way give a listen.Warning ..it's raw..toward the end the 5-way found it's way to the bridge position and got real twangy and over-driven.

Good one, Garry ... it's a beautiful set of changes to play over, isn't it? Very nice playing ... too nice for the overly processed sound in my not so humble opinion.

I'd love to hear you play that on acoustic!

An acoustic version of that would rock.

The recording does not do your playing justice dude...!!! Wonderfully executed, incredible
playing, however, the recording nearly shattered my glasses..!!!

Is there any way you could plug directly into your sound card, and do away with the mic.?!?

I would love to hear you do a better recording of this song... Even as it stands, it made
me want to stand up and applaud....!!!!

That was horrific on play-back... my apologies....I know next to nothing about recording, wish I knew more. Plug directly into the sound-card?...hey Nocat , enlighten me man.
I thought it needed something to attain the level of sustain Carlos is noted for, I tried to replicate best I could through processing at a lower output level. The end result as we heard, is pretty bad.
Played it on a "clean" tone, but to get the notes to sing , I needed to crank it up even more increased volume, just blew out the mic completely. Live and learn.
Think you guys are on to something, an acoustic version would be a challenge, I think I'm gonna give it a crack. Thanks for the advice.

PS: I got something in the mail today.... (((DOHHHHHHHHHH!!!))) catch you guys later!!

Hey Sid, trying to post a link and keep getting "loading error" computers and I don't get along very well.
Good news is, I found it in the Software forum, listed under backing tracks, scroll down some and you should see a conversation between Allthumbs and another member. Keep scrolling, still on the first page I believe, you'll see a one sentence reply by yet another member and there was an entire library of backing tracks. In the meantime I'll try and figure out my computer impaired situation.

  Sounds good Garry

I listened to that smooth groove on my tinny, tiny computer speakers and it sounded great. There's some scratchy sounds towards the end, but the performer outperformed his equipment on this one!

Absolutely superb Garry. Carlos would be proud of you. Bet your bonsais were gently swaying to that.
Can't wait for the update.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
