  A Big Mozza Ball....

I just recently acquired some recording stuff. Mainly Audio Technica AT2041SP mikes. I'm still using my SB soundcard; waiting for the M-Audio 24/96. I certainly don't match up to any of the great recordings that are put on this site. This is one of my first. I even dare to sing; God help you all. I really admire the people that are brave enough to go down this road. I can fully appreciate how difficult this process is. So bear withme for intruding on your time. (RockerBob please cover your ears. I think you are outstanding.)
I had fun. To me that is the greatest pay off.
thx for you patience.
Sorry for the waste of bandwith, Kirk.
PS I truly enjoy your lessons. For an old fart like me it's a blessing to be able to use their fingers in a reasonable fashion.

No need to be sorry MCH, that's what this forum is here for and good onya for taking advantage of it ... you say you "really admire the people that are brave enough to go down this road" ... well, you're one of them now, and I admire you for it.

Your recording skills sound pretty good to me, nice sounds and clean production. That single note lines sounds sweet as. There is something Dylanesque about it all in certain places and if I were you I'd develop that. It's where you really decide to sing out and nail it ... very neat. You did more and more of that toward the end. It's the 'sound of confidence'. I think you just need to tighten up the two elements, guitar and vocal, a bit, and that's just a matter of doing it and doing it. You sound like you're really enjoying it, so that won't be hard to do.

Very good effort, MCH.

Couldn't agree with your more Kirk and as for you MCH. I wouldn't mind you having a bash at "Blowin in the Wind" (if you know it) as you certainly had a Dylanesque vibe to your voice and the guitar playing.

Thx for all the postive feedback. It warms the cockles of my heart. I'll need a couple of more lifetimes to nail this down into something respectable. But I certainly enjoy playing and squawking. Hmmm Tom Waits (I actually like his offbeat style, I think he's a great musician).
Question. I tried some fingerpicking stuff (thx Kirk). I wanted to lay down a second track (instead of a software duplicate) but found trying to keep time with the previous recorded track impossible. It has something to do with latency, I think. Will the other soundcard (M-Audio 24/96) help me get past this? Or is there something I need to do or adjust? Pointers would be greatly appreciated.

That's some good stuff you doing. I had trouble with latency using Audacity so I switched to Multitrack studio and had no problem.

I agree it got better as it went. that's an odd thing that all my recordings tend to do too, in fact, even when I jam with the guys...the 2nd and 3rd verses are always better than the first.
Good timing, good recording qualities, balanced, and overall nice effort!
