Smile   Unchained Melody

Hi all

This is the first song i've learnt from this forum. I love this song and i know i have to do lot of improvments in playing this. I'm sorry for some mistakes and as i'm learning finger-picking only from the past 2 weeks and have a long way to go. I thought if i can get your comments, it will correct me and encourage me to go even further.

I'm attaching 2 recordings of the same , as i cant find which is more correct (i feel the second one is better in continuity) , in terms of rythm and chord-changes.I'M REALLY SORRY FOR THE BAD RECORDING SOUND, BECAUSE I DONT HAVE A GOOD RECORDING HARDWARE YET, BUT I'VE STARTED SAVING FOR IT ALREADY Kindly raise up your volumes !

I would really love to hear comments from Kirk on this, but i'm not sure whether he'll be able to, and its perfectly understandable.

Anyways thanks for listening to me guys. I promise i'll be better next time

I like it and thats some nice picking for two weeks

If you lower the gain on your microphone and then just increase your sound post recording that airy background wont be so loud

Thanks Camtheman, I've to work on better recording equipment, actually the mic i'm using is a very cheap one and has no cotrols or anything, its just a stick with a wire connected to it...LOL !!!! I'll do better next time ! Thanks for caring

Nice work! I haven't even started to learn to play fingerstyle, so you're ahead of me.

There's no need to apologize for your playing, the quality of the recording, or anything else. We didn't pay for tickets and aren't expecting you to entertain us....we're just having a conversation about playing guitar.

Very nice. do you finger pick with picks?, fingers?, fingernails?, thats the hardest thing for me, I don't really have fingernails long enough to pick with so I use my fingers which is easier, but I can't play for long. I have finger picks but they are a pain. keep it up!

Hi Kush, both versions sound great to me. If you can pick like that so soon you will be a star in twelve months time. Don't worry too much about the recording quality, your playing shines through.
Keep at it mate.

Your fingernails just have to stick out a little past your fingertips. You want to pick with nail and finger flesh both at once. Your looking at maybe an 1/8th of an inch of nail from the pink part up.

Hi strtblstr

I have the same problem, i cant use a finger-pick, and i bite my nails a lot and hence dont have natural-nails too. I've played only with my finger-tips. Thanks for appreciating pal

Hi Geoff, thank you so much for your kind words, you always encourage me a lot. Thanks again mate. Its very kind of you to care and lift my spirits like this. By the way i bought plane-talk as you had suggested.

Kush you will get loads of invaluable info and fun out of Plane Talk I'm sure. It's the best learning tool for guitar that I've seen, and I have seen a few!
Have you guys thought about trying food or quick-snacks instead of finger nails?
