Ok, trying to grasp this chord stuff and progressions, and I'm sure this would sound more appropriate on a accoustic, but I do have a question, when I lift my fret hand pressure a little to kinda stop the ringing-out is that also called muting?

Thanks Fretsource, wasn't sure, is that the right terminology? "fret mute" or nothing to worry about.

I don't know of any specific name for it. It's just one form of fretting-hand muting. (The other being where you touch a vibrating string with any finger to mute it).
