  Howdy Folks!

I Hope you all are doing well out there in GFB&B land. Here is me messin around with the chords to Billy Joe Shaver's chunk of coal. It has a bunch of sour notes and pales in comparison to the outstanding polished post we get here but Oh well, I am with Canuck Todd on this one, so turn your speakers down before you listen cause I am not sure what I am doing on the recording bit either. Thanks for the listen.

You seem to be a little tentative with your note choices. How are you choosing which notes to play?

Hey AT - Thanks for the FB - Tentative yes, I am trying to transition through cotm but the G# to C#m transition is a new one for me and I keep forgetting the A that comes right up. Truth be told I only had about 30 minutes to mess around while the kids are in the bath! I can definately feel the difference when the landing lights are on. Maybe I will slow the beat down and focus focus and just pick 1,3's & 5's for starters then figure out what needs to be flat.

Hi, mjwjr ... keep working on it. I can hear that you're not far away from a big breakthrough. Sounds to me like you should just think ahead a little more. When the next piece of the puzzle drops into place, it's going to be a big solid one.

Hey MjwJr, I don't know that tune but it sounded good. Without feedback or even criticism you'll never know what to keep working on. I posted a pretty rough version of Crazy on You and Solid Walnut (Steve) game me an entire mini-lesson on strumming patterns for that tune. All I can say... is... thanks! That's what makes this place a great place for beginners.... and beyond! I hope that when I figure things out I can give back one day.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
