First tune I ever recorded slide blues
This is the first slide tune I ever did and the first time I ever recorded a tune. Again an improv over a backtrack. Used my Godin Radiator for that one with Kirks' brass slide.

Allthumbs, I was wondering when you were going to pst some tracks. Well worth the wait. I preferred the blues track - really raucous and a great sound. As you say the jazz track could probably do with a bit of fine tuning but being able to improvise over a piece like this is probably the greatest skill a musician can have.
Well done,
Simon

Thanks. The idea is to be able to do a perfect take the first run through. I am sure kirk can do that, but I am a long way from there. I have several friends who can lay down a perfect take after 2 or 3 runthroughs. My jaw always drops when they do something like that. It is my favourite way of playing guitar now. I struggle mostly with hearing the chord changes,so that's my main focus at the moment.

Great work there allthumbs! That slide style is a tough one to get. You sounded very fluid with it!

Thanks Jim. I went for a raw, honest slide vibe and seemed to pull it off.

Wow that was great allthumbs!
So tough playing with a slide....I was very impressed. When I use a slide I get nothing more that alot of clunking and string noise....I'll stick with fingerpicking for now but thanks for the very inspirational job!

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
