  Travelin Man...Kinda Bluesy.

Hi Forum,

Just thought I'd post a couple of verses of Doc Watson's Travelin Man. Learned this from Doug Jones over at www.acousticplayermagazine.com. They just love Kirk over in that forum. I'm no singer but I give myself 10/10 for effort

Thanks Kirk. You have been a great inspiration in my relatively short time of playing. PlaneTalk starting it all off for me. I must get the DVD version soon though.

Great forum - some really good players here.

Brian.

I don't know why you say you're no singer Brian, that was great! Both the guitar and the voice and vibe.

Nice to have you join us over here. Great stuff! Thanks.

Clancy

Very authentic sound you have there sleepy, dripping with feel. Get yourself a repertoire of those together and spend a couple of years doing the festival circuit ... you'd have a blast!

Thanks everyone. gintonic, with regards to how long. A few days to get it sounding decent. Sounds more complex than it really is. A few basic 7th chords with some embelishments and double stops and you're there. Fun to play.

Cheers,
Sleepy.

Yeah, I remember that one now. I watched the slow picking video too, and appreciate the difficulty you must have had getting that picking pattern down. Nice work. I really like this style of playing, but it sure doesn't come naturally. I have a miserable time with getting my thumb to play clear bass notes in time. It seems to plow in there on the strings and make a buzzy mess. I am a tad better with a thumb pick, but then there seems to be too big a difference in volume between the thumb pick twang and the other fingers. Oh well, practice, practice I guess!

Hey Sleepy, I give you a 20 (out of ten) for that.

Your voice is great! What do you mean "I'm no singer"?

Wow, I'd kill to have a voice like that. (How come we never seem to like our own voices).

Anyway thanks for the song and the link.

Mikey
