allthumbs guitars

Oh boy, first post in a new forum. This is the place to upload the pics of your rigs. Acoustics electrics dobros etc.
It is best to upload them from your pc rather than use an embedded image like I did the first time. ie photobucket etc so that the pics can be thumbnailed

Lets see. A srv strat, the semi hollowbody is an epi alleykat, the sparkley one is my radiator slide guitar, a 30 year old norman acoustic, an 85 year old dobro and a no name cheapy electric. I will load a pic of my amp,p.a build and bass later. I am running late.

Very nice collection. I like your 'friends' in the photograph as well. What is the make of the Dobro?

Made somewhere around 1921 to 1930. i posted this info about it on another forum.

just found some info on a dobro I bought 20 years ago.It was made by Arthur Hensel for the R.S.Williams Piano Co. in the early 1920's. It was the oldest instrument making comp. in Canada based in Toronto. 1834 to around 1929. The company started making mandolins, banjos, guitars and melodeons in 1855. In 1970, the R.S. Williams Collection became the largest gifted instrument collection given to the Royal Ontario Museum. I hope I can do some further research to find out more about the builder and the exact age of the dobro. I am taking a shot at uploading pics. Anyone know about these? It has a real loud punchy tone that made the dobro player who tried it want to offer allot more than I payed for it. It has fretboard made of some kind of plastic like silver sparkles? It is solid wood body, no laminates.

It's an epiphone alleykat semi hollow body. The guys at Harmony Central went nuts for them when musicians friend had a blowout sale and I got dragged along. They sell for around 600, the blowout was 300 and because ups dinged it slightly, they paid the shipper full price so my total cost was 70 bucks shipping and thats it. It is my #1 right now. I love the tone on it. It is not as bright and clean as a full hollow body, but it makes for a nice organic jazz tone and has great rockabilly potential the way it can bite.
