My new acoustic

I just got these pics from Michael Palm, who is building me an acoustic to take the load off my old Gibson. It's got a few buzzes and squeaks and rattles that interfere with recording, but I don't want to fix it anymore ... she's just too old to tamper with.

Michael showed me the prototype for these a couple of years ago ... by far the most beautiful guitar I've ever played, and he's been slowly building me one. Should be ready in 2 or 3 months. I was pleased to get his progress report today with some pictures ... proving it's on its way.

Nice one Kirk, cant wait to hear that baby.

I would still suggest that you get the Gibson to a Luthier. We have a brilliant guy over here in SA, works wonders to the instruments. the nice thing about him is the fact that he does not remove that tone you are used to... He just shines up the guitar and makes her play like new. (takes away the cracks and creaks as well)

What a glorious back, the grain will be stunning when it's polished (or are you going for a matte finish?). I assume it's Rosewood.

For a minute there Kirk, I thought you bought a kit to build. You would need lots of extra time.

I think you need a new screen, ER, you have trouble seeing colors! No, it's very pale wood ... pine I think, I have yet to ask what he's used. I was never very interested in which woods are which, it's the sound and playabilty that I care about.

It will be polished, sb, just putting the finish on it will take a couple of months apparently!

It looks like it's going to be a beautiful guitar Kirk. I bet your counting the days until you can take it home. I know I would if it was me.

I'll remember to hoist up the brightness first next time, for now I see it Remember I have to set that screen low to avoid headaches

It's gonna be absolutely gorgeous..........I'm sure it'll sound great. Although, I think if you attached strings to a frying pan and played it would still sound fantastic
