Anyone Got One Of These??
Or perhaps played on one?
I've only seen Jimmy Page use one and Don Felder.
Apparently Gibson are in the process of releasing a reissue of this amazing guitar.

I have played a couple over the years, as well as a doubleneck ES335 and a few other double neck guitars. I have solved the problem of weight and flexabilty with a Line6 Variax. They are played one neck at a time.

BTW, Rick Neilson of Cheap Trick has a custom 5 neck Hammer. Although they all work, it's really just about the show.

I've had it about 2 years and I get lots of use out of it, mostly in the studio.

I had a half of one back in the 60's (an SG). Wish I still had it but my shoulder still says it was too heavy!

I thought the SG's were supposed to be a lighter guitar.

Lighter than a Les Paul, yes. But I'd never call them light!

I have still got mine. I keep thinking about moving it on but then I'll just start Fooling around with it and Hey Presto, it stays a while longer. As to Tuning Nightmares, WHY?
At the end of the day all you've got is a Six String and a 12 String Neck?
Mine has a bit of a history and is an Older Guitar, purchased in 1980.
But do you know what makes me keep thinking about selling it? I hate the Look of it! There I have said it. The Weight isssue has never been a problem, she plays like a Dream, but I never use it any more and it's quite a sizable chunk of capital tied up there.
Try one some time, they are Great Fun and you can do some amazing things with them, especially if you use Both Necks at Once and get a Drone type of thing going.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
Buy it now for only $10 |
