some of my buddies...

from left: Alvarez RD-8, Fernandes Strat-style, Regal Banjo,Johnson JG-5335S (L-style) and Off-brand Resonator round-neck. The one facing the wall is in disrepair and is too embarrased to show his face!! Also not pictured is the nylon-string classical I started on which was rescued from a garbage truck 9 years ago!!

Nice! A good looking bunch of friends you've got there. I love the fact that you hang them up like that ... keeps them all ready for a quick twang. A guitar locked away in a case is not going to be played as often as one that's out on display. Cases are for transporting guitars.

it's nice of you to let your buddies "hangout" at your place like that.

I thought it was better to keep them in the case if you don't have the correct humidity in your room, oh, nice collection too.

I do have an aprilaire humidifier in the house and overall the humidity stays pretty constant (around 20%). I do notice the guitars go out of tune when we get a drastic change in the weather but, as Kirk says, it's great to be able to reach up and just grab one. Many nights I'll practice a little with each of them. The differences in each guitar helps me avoid feeling like I'm in a rut when practicing the same piece over and over.

Lack of humidity in the heating season is the enemy of the Canadian guitar

the Taylor Guitar site has some good videos about humidity

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
