look at my 1979 12 string Guild
I don’t know much about this guitar but it has original case, strip, and owner’s manual with the receipt. This guitar was bought buy my dad in February 20 1979 for a total of $689.00. He played it some then he putts it away and forgot about it. Once in a while I would take it out and try to play it. Then he passed it down to me so I am trying to play it.
Also what do you think that the price value would be on this guitar be??? not that I am trying to sell it I am just curious
now for the eye candy…

Kenoman,
Excellent!
What you have there is an F212. I have 76 model F212 in Sun-burst. It's an excellent 12 string guitar. It has great tones and will stand up to a lot of beating, though now that it's edging close to 30 years old, I'd treat with great respect.
Your 79 model is pre-Fender. Guild Guitar Company was bought out by Fender Guitars in th eearly 80's and the quality went down hill real fast. Fender does have a Guild specific website @ Guild® Guitars . YOu can check serial numbers and all there on the site.
I am an avid Guild owner and lover. I own a 74 D-25/6, 76 F212 and a 1980 D212.
I'm am positive you will have years of playing with that instrument. Keep it. It only gets better. As far as value in todays world. It has not depreciated in value too badly. If you wished to sell it, by the looks in your pictures it appears in excellent condition. I would expect you could get 600.00 - 700.00 for it, maybe a little more. [disclaimer ... I don't guarantee that price ] . I'm going by what I've seen sell over the last couple of years. The F212 was the lower end of the Guild 12's. It is the Jumbo Body cut as opposed to a dreadnaught cut. The D series, like my D212 are dreadnaughts. Though Guild made other series, 412/512's which were also Jumbo Body in a slightly larger scale than the F212.
If your dad passed it on to you, I'd cherish it. They do not make them with the quality yours has. It will last you the rest of your life.
Best to you.

PS.. my Guilds are pictured in this section somewhere, but you'll have to search. it's been a long while since I posted pics of them.... Oh and my avatar, that is the 74 D25-6 pictured

Sweet.... I don't play my 12 enough these days. Might just have to go pop the case open and give her a strum! Can't help you with the value question, but I agree with Les, if your Dad passed it down to you, play it and then pass it along to your kids!

I plan on keeping it for as long as I possible can. I am looking for a 6 string to play and learn on so that it could last even longer than if I play it.

Gorgeous Guild guitar, Kenoman...I have a 12 string Yamaha, and also want to grab hold of a 6 (possibly an electric/acoustic) just to speed up the learning process, but a 12 will break you in quickly, as far as the pain in the fingers, etc. I'd hold on to that beauty if you're not hurting for the bucks, since it will inspire 'Ooohs and Ahhhs' wherever you go.
Umm...wanna trade? LOL

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
Buy it now for only $10 |
