new amp

God bless girlfriends. Not only are they fun to look at and play with, but they buy ya neat stuff.

I'd been lookin' around for a low wattage tube amp... Had been checkin' out the Epi Valve Jr when I found this Fender Champion 600 reissue at the music store last week. The girl surprised me with it over the weekend.

Loud it ain't, not with a 6 inch speaker, but it's got a beautiful tone to it, and there's an internal speaker jack should I decide to hook up a different speaker. Some of the reviews I read on it mentioned that it didn't sound good turned all the way up, but that's not the case at all. I turned it up full bore right off the bat and it was sweet as all get-out.

There's high and low inputs, an on/off switch, and a volume control. I oughtta be able to get a handle on the controls in a week or two, lol. A 12AX7 in the pre and a 6V6 in the power section.

Nice little rig, I love the thing. Here's a pic I got off the internet.

Nice amp. I have the Epi Valve Jr head and I love the low wattage tube tone. Your amp will shine when you hook it to an ext cab. Congrats on having such a great girlfriend too.

The Epi is real popular amp, and a great price to boot. I tried both the Epi Jr combo and the head. I tried out the head thru a 4x12 cab, lol. Was seriously considering buying one of them. We saw the Champs on sale at the music store last week and really liked the one we tried out. Seems to be real pedal friendly, too.

Cool amp, Wayslow. Nice to have low enough wattage that you can crank it up a bit at home to get that tube cookin'!
