Howdy from Texas!
My 4 year old son got a Wal-Mart quality guitar for Christmas which is better than I expected cause it actually stays in tune for over an hour while I play with it. I figured I would teach myself some stuff which would hopefully spur him on to learn. I found this site while looking at guitar tuning sites. Looks like a good place to start.

Four years old is pretty young to deal with the sore finger part of learning to play. He must have a lot of passion for it. Welcome Dave

Yes, in my opinion he's too young but that didn't stop his grandparents from getting him the guitar. He had sore fingers Christmas day from banging on it. We'll see about the passion part.

I hope it was not a case of Dad fancied a guitar through the medium of giving it to your young lad?
I did it to my son years ago when I bought him scalextric (car racing game) at just a year old for Christmas, I think it was for kids from age 8 upwards. My partner at the time went mad as I spent the whole holiday watching little cars race around a big track

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
Buy it now for only $10 |
