My Introduction

Hey all,

When I found out Kirk had a forum going I had to join! Kirk and I go back just a few years by way of Wholenote. I've had the opportunity to play long-distance via track sharing with Kirk. I've learned a lot by listening to this very talented musician. He always inspires me with his sense of melody!!!!! Melody is king in my book.

I'll share a track I did with Kirk called moonbeach. Perhaps Kirk can share one of my backings and his solo as a response!

Here is my solo and light rhythm work over Kirk's backing track, moonbeach:

Jim take over Moonbeach

Kirk, maybe you can post your solo over cool groove!

All the best,

Jim

Thanks! Great to be here. Are you from WN? I'm still fumbling around a bit but getting the hang of how this forum works. I hope to be a bit more active soon!

All the best,

Jim

Hi Jim and welcome to the forum.

Kirk has spoken of you many times and is a big admirer of your playing. I believe we were hoping to meet up with you in Big Sur last year, but unfortunately our visa situation didn't work out and it didn't happen, but we'll be coming over again soon, so maybe then.

Nice to have you here.

Clancy

Thanks James, for posting that. I'm so pleased you've joined! The best part for me was that I've never heard that beautiful playing you did over the Moonbeach backing track ... like quicksilver ...

OK, attached below is Coolgroove ... Jim provided the backing track, I played the acoustic solo.

Once again, great to have you here.

Thanks for the warm welcome, Clancy! Kirk told me you took the reins over the site and it looks great! I was looking forward to meeting up with you and Kirk and even thought of driving up to Washington after hearing about your visa difficulties. Wish I would have! My brother is in Oregon so the trip could have been doable.

Yes, next time lets make it a point to visit. We are in the process of selling the Big Sur property but have lots of pictures and wonderful memories of our time there.

Thanks again for the welcome!

All the best,

Jim

Thanks Kirk!

I just love the solo you did over this backing! So smooth and melodic! Classic Kirk!

Thanks again for the welcome.

All the best,

Jim

Yes next time let's do it. Hopefully we'll be making regular trips over from now on, so I'm sure we'll be able to work something out.

Again, great to have you here.

Clancy

Using photostory I compiled some pictures I took of a trip to Big Sur two weeks ago and set them to music, to moonbeach! Perhaps I was inspired by the beauty of this piece of coastland when I first solo'd over it. Music comes from inspiration after all. Please share this with Clancy as a look into the memories I shall keep in my heart forever of this place.

Moonbeach.wmv

All the best,

Jim

Big Sur looks like a magical place Jim and your playing is just beautiful... a nice treat to wake up to this morning... thanks for sharing.

It's not hard to see why you love the place.
