Hello to all from a new beginner...

Hello, I think that this site is great for brand new players. I am a 36 yr old security technician currently between jobs right now, but that part is looking up. I am not brand new to music, although it's been around 20 years since I played any instrument. I played in the school bands, first clarinet, then tenor sax, then trombone.

My father played guitar, banjo, and piano, and I certainly hope that some of that rubs off on me. I have good memories listening to him play. He passed when I was 14, so maybe it would mean a lot more to me if I can do this.

I just obtained a beginner guitar. I figure if I stick with it, then I will look into a nicer one. It is a used Yamaha F310.

I have always wanted to learn to play - It has been a rough year, and hope this helps.

Your fingers are going to be sore for a while, but it will be worth it.

Thank you all for your kind welcomes! Yeah, the fingers are sore...about how long does it take to stretch them out for chord placements? Also, from the information that I have gotten, my hand naturally does not like having the thumb on the middle of the neck. Any suggestions? My forearm and cramped wrist will appreciate it...I guess it's just something that needs getting used to?
