Hi rim. Depends on the kind of guitar. A lot of guitars have what are called strap buttons, one behind the neck and the other at the bottom end of the guitar. You would put the strap on just like you would button a shirt, button through the button holes in the strap. Some guitars have only a button on the bottom end of the guitar. This means the other end is attached by something that looks a lot like a shoe string which ties around the neck at the headstock running under the strings. Other guitars just don't have any way to secure a strap as their meant to be played sitting. I would not get to concerned over a strap at this point. In the beginning your going to be spending all your time sitting with your guitar any way.

if you dont have a button(s) to attach the strap you can always buy them at a guitar store and just screw it in yourself, or have a tech at the store do it for you.

When you first start playing you will probably be playing sitting down anyways, so I wouldn't worry too much about the strap right now. Glad to see you picked up the guitar, good luck.

allthumbs, 6string and silverbullet5774

I figured out that mine is button + shoe strig one. Thanks for the replies.

So far I am just trying to get a feel of the strings on my fingers. They pain bad .
parellely i am trying to read some of the theory and slowly its sinking in.

I have no prior experience in music and classes is something that i cannot join coz I got very limitted time and totally random working hours .

What will be the best rout to start with, which can keep me going?

i will appritiate your advice

regards

rim
