Hi, I'm new to this forum
Hello, everyone.
I just joined this forum and I look forward to talking guitars and music with all of of you. I only recently started seriously trying to learn guitar. I had a classical guitar (Cordoba Modelo 20) but decided a steel string would be fun to play so I got a Martin DM. I cannot express how happy I am with my purchase. I like music like James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Eagles, Jim Croce, Gordon Lightfoot, etc. Well, I like all kinds, but this is what I want to play. Any other aficionados of these artists out there?

Welcome to the forum MrGuitar,
If you like James Taylor, you'll be pleased to know that Kirk's lesson this week is a one of his well known tunes. Should be posted here in the lessons forum later on today or tomorrow.
Good to have you here.

Thanks Clancy and allthumbs. I just noticed that the song is You've got a Friend by JT. Coincidentally, that's the song I'm trying to learn these days. Now I'm going to learn it for sure. By the way, I have an iMac G5. I can't seem to get the video part of the lessons. Is there a way to get it on my Mac? Any suggestions out there?

MrGuitar
Do you have Windows Media Player? If not, you'll need to download it to see the videos. (It's free)... Just go to http://www.microsoft.com/mac/otherpr...d=windowsmedia and download it for whatever operating system you're running. I assume OSX if you're on a G5.
I know there are a few mac users on the board who see the lessons, so there should be no problem once you get Windows Media Player. Let me know if you still can't see them and I'll look into it further.
Cheers
Clancy

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
