Hello everyone

Hi everyone in this forum im 17 from New Jersey, Usa
I got an electric guitar ( Squier SE-100) last christmas but i started only playing like a couple of months ago
i guess im a bigenner, i know a bunch of chords, scales and some theory i even bought rock guitar for dummies.
my problem is that even though i can understand tabs and everything i find it difficult switching betweens chords and just playing fluently in general, i think part of it could be since i started out so late.
well know im trying to learn some songs to play but i find it hard learning through guitar pro because it seems like it would take forever to learn just one song with all the notes
im trying to find some motivation to play becuase its really hard practicing everyday when your having minimal fun
before i was trying to learn yesturday by the beatles but it seems so grueling with all the finger picking like it would take me forever just to finish the song
any advice? im open to anything that might help or motivate me

Hi PF. Glad you found the place. I know what you mean about memorizing tunes note for note. Some folks can and get a great deal of satisfaction from being able to play something note for note. I have a memory like a sieve so I look at tab lessons as a how to understand the mechanics of playing music. I do a lot of jamming over bts which gives me a great deal of satisfation. That may be the way for you to go if you find yourself struggling a year from now with the same thing. With experience you will find everything will get easier, give yourself time.

This Sucks!!
just when i finally found time to practice my guitar i had to have a surgery done on my right index finger and i wont be playing for awhile if ever (my finger looks horrible ... the top joint is all messed up)
well im wondering if anyone holds their pick without using their index finger (sounds pretty awkward)

that's too bad, but like everything, where there is a will THERE IS a way. Hang in there pinkfloyd0814.

I vaguly remember Eddie Van Hallen held a plck in an unusal way. Just play with the pick. In time whatever way you hold it will come to seem right for you.
