I知 happy to be here

Hello all, my name is Michael. I’m 33 years old. I have been teaching myself acoustic guitar for the past 3 years. My musical tastes really span the gamut from classical to metal. I’m not a big fan of country music but there is some of it that I enjoy, however for me, a little country goes a long way. The music I’m currently working on learning include a few Bach tunes, Bob Marley “Is this love,” Kiss “Beth,” and the Irish standards “Danny Boy” and “Too-Ra-Loo-Ra-Loo-Ral {That’s An Irish Lullaby}” About a week and a half ago I ditched my picks. I would say that after being exposed to Kirk’s postings and his movie clips here, playing the guitar finger style sounds so much more expressive and alive. The fingers on my right hand are hurting, since my calluses haven’t been established yet. I’m certain it will have been worth it, in the long run.

Hi, I ditched my picks about a year ago and never looked back. I do find however, playing electric is a lot more challenging without a pick. Tone dynamics are a lot trickier with fingers. I have a friend who can get all the pick dynamics with his fingers so I am hoping to wheedle some of his skills out of him. How you get artificial harmonics with your fingers baffle me at the moment.
