Thumbs up Hi Everyone!

Hi There! The new site finally pushed me over the edge. I am not really new, been lurking at this site for quite some time year now. I live in Canada.

I have been re-discovering guitar, after once having attempted to teach myself as a teenager. As a new parent, I am really motivated to add some musical influence to our household. I like all types of music, and I really love this site and Kirk's lessons.

The Planetalk book has helped me enormously, but I am still struggling - mainly because I don't practice as much as I would like to.

All the best to all of you! Glad to be here...

David

Hi David, thanks for joining.

Ottawa, eh? My best old buddy, who moved down here to Australia also, had a very neat little log cabin at Wakefield. Apparently it was a businessman's secret weekend hideaway nobody found out about until he died and left it in his will. I was there last October just to see if remembered how to get there. I did and the cabin is still there.

Enjoy the site, and I'll try and get a version of Bruce Coburn's tune. I have a vague idea of which one it is. He's a wonderful singer/songwriter.

Hi David. I don't think I have seen you on the Plane Talk forum yet. You should join if you haven't already. See you there.

  Wakefield - a swingin' place

Thanks Kirk, Marty:

If you're ever hangin' aruond Wakefield on a summer weekend, at about noon a steam train (built in 1907) rolls into town, full of tourists making the trip from Gatineau to Wakefield. A bunch of employee musicians jump off the train with beat up guitars (about five guitarists, and two fiddlers - all kids). They sing traditional french Canadian songs for about an hour, then jump back on the train to serenade the tourists on the trip back. It's a blast to see this.

Now that's the sort of summer job I would love to see my son doing when he's older!

Best,

D

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
