Follow the advice of the above posts. That is the place for new players to start, the mini lessons.

Welcome duns return, to the best guitar and friendliest guitar site on the planet.
As vetinari has said "click on forum home" and take it from there. Don't forget to look at the "New to guitar" and the lessons. It doesn't take long to make yourself at home here.

Ok Heres the Info on the popular Major And Minor Barre Chords i told you about

barres.jpg Click for bigger image

ok the diagram shows 4 usefull barre shapes which when fingered correctly (index finger creates the barre) you can slide up and down the neck of the guitar without changing the shape to create a new chord based on the root note (which is the lowest bass note your index finger is touching) so what this basicly means is if your using the G major shape (see diagram)and you slide the whole shape up a fret you are now playing a G# major slide up again and your playing A majorand so on.

these are four great shapes to learn as they give you access to all the major and minor chords up and down the neck and will strenghthen your fingers too
good luck

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
