Hello Everyone

Hey,
I just wrote a really long message and the stupid stupid chinese server didn't let me post it and kicked me out of your site... great! Anyways. Since this the "Introduce yourself" board I will do just that:

Ronja, 18 and currently living in Beijing, China, where I study chinese at a local university as a gap year. I'm actually Austrian (Europe) but a very international Austrian since I went to an American school (Internation private school in my hometown) and mainly have international friends.

My dad is a professional classical musician in the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, so I grew up with music. I myself play piano and violin and love it. My dream career would be Orchestra musican but I'm just too lazy for todays competition. Here in Beijing the climate is so messed up that I didn't want to take my violin with me (too sensitive to humidity an cold) and its really hard to find a place where I can just rag away on the piano... I miss making music and yesterday at a get together with some friends one of them brought a guitar and started just playing random stuff. I've always loved guitar because its such a social instrument and also sounds so nice and my roommates have one lying around that they don't use - so logical thought process - I just decided its time for a new instrument.

The problem is that I have absolutely no clue about guitars nor is there a chance for me to find an actual teacher (not good enough to be taught in chinese yet, and everything else is like at least an hour away)... I was looking for some help on the net and found this page... sounds pretty good so here i am.

If you could just tell me some basic acords and some guitar theory it would help soooo much. I already played around but its diffenret than if you have someone helping you...

Well anyways,
Thanks for the awesome website
Ciao
Ronja

welcome to the forum. You should be able to find all kinds of stuff on the main page of the site that will lead you through small lessons in basic chords etc. Another good place for info and lessons is here.

  Nice site

Yey Just started to use the page you gave me and it feels good to finally have some cords in front of me that make sense and sound right! Thanks so much. Sounds like I've found a kind of "teacher" for the time being!
