Ready to Learn
Hi All,
I took my son to the local Guitar store to purchase his first guitar the other day. It was a lot of fun. So much fun that I ended up coming home with a guitar for myself. Now I just need to learn how to play the thing. I have high hopes that you all can teach me a thing or two.

hello Landlord. My father and i learned to play guitar together 40 years ago. great memories. He was already an accomplished musician as a jazz saxophonist. as a kid, there was nothing like growing up in a house full of music and 3 generations of musicians. hoepfully i have passed the tradition onto my children. it's great that you and you son will be learning together.

How do you end up with 1 million dollars playing jazz? start with 2 million.

Hey there landlord
Welcome aboard mate! It's great that you'll have someone at home you'll be able to jam with!

Welcome landlord
What a great way to grow up with your son.
Besides, father and son, doing something creative together ... Music can span all the gaps that words fail at.
You're amongst a lot of talented members here. I myself haven't been here long and I am learning bunches.
Good luck
john

Welcome, Landlord! Haven't been here long myself, but it's a great board with a lot of very talented and helpful people. I just picked the guitar back up after a looooong hiatus, and have learned more about it in the last couple weeks than I did in the forty-some years before!

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
