Brand NEW!!

Hey all. I just got my first guitar for my birthday 2 days ago, it's an old acoustic. My fingers are pretty sore. =) So far all I've learned are E and Am. I'm from Vancouver, WA and so far, I'm lovin' the site. Thanks for reading my hello.

Chris

G'day Chris

Welcome along mate! It's great that you have a guitar to get crackin' on!

I can't do D yet... it's only got 5 strings. It's my friend's old guitar. He says he felt bad about giving me on that's missing high E, but I'm totally too stoked to mind. I'm going to buy new strings for it tomorrow. Not sure if I should stick with bronze, or try steel or nylon... is there a real difference in sound?

Well I'm more of the electric guitar type and I use slinky's, some of these other acoustic players could prolly give you a good idea... D'addario's maybe? Try C and E minor

G'day Horndogrob88766, welcome to the forum.

It may pay to check with your friend, what strings the guitar was setup for, and stick with them, or have it re-setup for the new type/guage strings.... If its a nylon string guitar, you should stick with nylons, its discussed in the tech forum, somewhere, but i couldnt find it....
