Eric in Albany

I've recently picked up my guitar again recently after a long hiatus. My parents got an Ovation Ultra ( close to a celebrety there days ) when I was a teenager ( see egreious picture below ). That was 15 years ago easy.

Recenty I was re-inspired because of a new guitar player in the family. He is a longtime player who can just twang away for hours in many a style without any music in front of him. That's what 30 years of practice does for you! I dug my guitar out of the closet and sent it off to get some repair work done and it's finally back!

I have already gotten back into the grove and have started learning new music and theory. Now if my fingers will just stop hurting

Picture back when I was half the person I am today.

G'day Eric

Welcome aboard mate! Glad to read that you've picked up the guitar again. It's amazing how someone else like a friend, or family member can inspire as you have found. It's good though because sometimes it can be just what we need to motivate us to get back in the saddle again.

Your fingers WILL hurt for a while, but eventually the soreness will go.
Anyway, you'll get lots of help (if you need it) on this forum from lots of friendly people from all over the world.

Good on ya!

It's nice to be re-inspired as well since it will go so nicely with my new "low-maintinace" lifestyle. With our first child on the way we just don't want to be tied to some electronic media all the time.

I am also doing a quick study of theory so that some day I hope to be able to "jam" with the person who inspired me. Right now I would not even dare to waste their time with my fuddled playing, but my wife enjoys it.
