New from Southern Africa

Hi Guys,
Well I dont have much to say but the obvious "i desperately" have to learn to play the guitar cause i love my main man Mr Erick Clapton and I look good on my Kawasaki Zx400 with my guitar strapped to my back, but when it comes to the strings its better said that "lookin good son and keep it on your back". Any helpful info would be most appreciated and of great value to me......

Thanxeee

Welcome! Looking good is important (and generally pretty easy!) Playing good is another matter, but this is the best place to start and ask questions!

Unfortunately the Rock Pose and Guitar Face are skills best left towards the later stages in guitar playing. You need to work through the Ouchie Fingers Phase and The F Barre Chords Aren't Humanly Possible phase among dozens of other speed bumps. Luckily they are all a fun challenge so dig in and ask questions if you get stuck. Welcome to the forum. BTW there is a Clapton bt you can noodle with somewhere in the bt forum if your interested.

Kryptonu, welcome to the forum... I bet you'll learn a lot from the forum.

If you are from Harare, you cant be going to far with that ZX400, I mean, where do you get petrol? Just kidding, i am from the RSA myself and I enjoy having fellow Southern Africans on the board...

Trade the Kawasaki in for a Harley and learn some Steve Earle, I don't think EC was really into bikes and backpacking guitars......?

Don't mind me Kryptonu, welcome to the forum and have fun. Hope we can help you with that wish to learn the guitar.

Hi Wern
its good to c a couple of my brothers in the house and yes you are right "fuel man", to get half a tank i gotta stop and think twice and if i do decide to get it i gotta look for the address of the black market. So string woody is a good pal to keep my weary mind of my baby

Thanx all, Man....my finger tip fell as if they've been squashed on a hot plate and grilled to the core and this friend of mine is like ahh, you'll get used to it!! I feel like Neo being told by Morpheus that "you've never used your muscles before" Yeah, dah now i know why! and the worst part is that i only got this guitar on sunday and yesterday was my first lesson, so now i know all that C,A,G,E,D but actually moving from one chord to the next is sooooooo hard but i really want to learn...thanx a lot man

Yeah, but you know what? the good thing is that at least my mind is sooo preoccupied with learning this stringed beast. I brought my guitar to work yesterday and wow, all the guys want to join me for lessons which my "BOSS" is givin me over the weekend, oh plus i also got a DVD last night for beginners but i had one major problem, Tuning the first E string, because(I think) the guy demonstrating the tuning was usin an electric guitar so mine still sounded a bit "patchy" or it just didnt sound right
