Lo from Stroud - UK
Lo all,
Been playing -badly- for about 18yrs.
I don't know a whole song all the way through and probably never will. I consider myself a bedroom guitarist really , just hit a few blues notes over a backing track and not very well either.
Have to say I never been one to practice but I love picking up my guitar after work most days .
My biggest love in music is slide blues , I just absolutely love the sound of it , always have.
Only ever tried it on open tuning though and hit the usual barriers and it all sounds the same tbh. Never really found a teacher who deals solely with slide but this planetalk and slide dvd looks pretty cool.
Anyways thats me , lazy ( in guitar terms ) but dying to be a great slide player as it's all I'm really interested in playing.
Anybody heard of the slide player Bryn Howarth? plays a pretty mean slide himself.

Hi D.D. I'm kind of fond of slide myself. I am in the middle of setting up a new slide guitar. Hope to post something using it next week. What do you play slide on and what is your slide of choice?

Hi Thumbs,
I've play on an old 50 quid basher ,and an old Ibanez.
For a slide I just use 22mm copper tube or similar because every time I buy a glass slide I lose it for some reason.

I have a custom leaded glass slide which i promptly dropped and chipped. Luckily I bought one of Kirks' heavy brass dropped D slides too. I much prefer it and it is near indestructible.

I to love the sound of slide blues. Hard thing to master. Not many can do it, but the love we have for the music that touches us is the best motivation. BTW hi from a newbie to.

Hi,
Just learnt that little ditty by Kirk , the Jazzy one ( sounds like stormy weather ).
First time I've really used bits in between chords etc , nice sound.

Oh that.
Well , it was a few years ago when my nephew had introduced me to an online game called Counterstrike ( yes I know I'm too old , but my brother in law plays and he's in his 50's :0) )
Anyways he said I needed a username to play , so , having just been handed a rather large donut on a plate to go with my mug of tea I decided to modify the term ' death by chocolate' to death by donut.
Thats it really.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
