New guitarist from South Florida

Hello everyone! I worked all summer, allocating money to invest in a new hobby, but didn't know what would suit me. My dad is an electric guitarist, a great number of friends are taking Guitar as an elective, so I thought why not, I like rock, I enjoy listening to my dad so I might as well join the bandwagon. So before I knew it I was off to Sam Ash to purchase my setup! Now I'm a person who doesn't like to start off lightly so I wanted a nice guitar and a nice amp. The only guitar I was familiar with was a Fender Stratocaster from watching Wayne's World, which by the way I found very sexy. That was my dream guitar and thats what I bought. Purchased the Fender Stratocaster 60th Anniversary Edition along with a Line 6 Spider II 112. Now I didn't just waltz in the store and buy them, I tried out the guitar, fell in love with it, tried the amp, and felt the same love. I havn't stopped practicing since I bought them ! Over the last four days i've spent at least 10 hours practicing by myself and with my dad. Couldn't be more proud of my purchase. Found this forum shortly before I got my guitar and seemed to be the friendliest community out there for beginners. Thanks for having me and I hope to talk to the majority of all of you soon.

G'day Manny

Welcome along mate! That particular Strat is a real beauty isn't it. I've often drooled over that model at my local guitar shop too.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
