Another hopeless newbie

Hello, I'm Chance, 13 and I own a Herald Classic Guitar (Plan on getting a good acoustic one V soon) It's really hard to play, and it's one of them spanish ones so a finger styled one which annoys me to hell. I'm really new at guiat, have no teacher and working from a book. I know about 3 chords. So I'm pretty hopeless. Well, gotta trudge on. Laters

Hi, Chance, its tough starting out on a guitar like that.
I teach music in a school, and have private students one day a week down here, and kids with steel string guitars learn 20% faster than kids trying to play nylon string guitars, mainly the wide neck is the problem, as you say...as soon as you get the steel string things will get much easier.
Let me know if you want any info, and good luck with playing on that thing in the meantime.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
