Yet another intro

Hi all,

Glad I found this forum. I'm Mac, hailing from southern CA. I've played guitar on and off since junior high school, but never put enough effort into it to become even halfway adept. I jammed in a garage band with some buddies during my high school years, but couldn't do much more than play simple rhythm. I never learned any scales or theory, so leads were way beyond my ability!

I quit playing for quite a few years, and now at the ripe old age of 43, I've decided to pick it up again. I just bought a MIM Strat (HSS) and practice amp, and am really enjoying being back into it (even though it can be SO frustrating at times!) I still consider myself a rank beginner, and really look forward to participating in the forum and learning here.

Thanks to all for the welcomes. I've already learned a lot from the forum.....started picking up the pentatonic scales and practicing them up and down, down and up.....

The lessons and tips here are very helpful - I'd have to say that within the last week or two I've already become a better guitar player than I've ever been in my life (not that that's saying very much!)

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
