Hi this Zak :-)

Hi my name is Zak.

I've always been fascinated by the guitar and always considered learning. At 14 I started learning on an honour acoustic guitar with steel strings and gave up within days. 5 years later I was suddenly inspired by one man by the name of John Rzeznik from the Goo Goo Dolls. So far I can play some basic chords, do a bit of switching and I can just about read some tab. I am learning on a yamaha electric but I would also like to play some acoustic sets as I get better. Nut I am scared of touching my acoustic guitar! Maybe I should get a smaller guitar with nylon strings?

Anyway me and a group of friends made a pact to learn an instrument so we can start a band (or just have jamming sessions) by next year so along with my learning the guitar I've got a student drummer and bassist. Its a long hard road but I am ready to go! If I havent bored you to death with my life story than I look forward to speaking to you all soon!

hi mj-zak. Take your accustic to a guitar tech for setup. It can be brutal trying to play a poorly setup guitar if thats the case. It will take a couple of months to get past the finger pain so you will just have to touigh it out. It's great that you have people around you to play with. You will learn a lot faster that way. Good luck.

Welcome, Zak!

And don't be afraid to pick up the acoustic again. Allthumbs's suggestion is a good one too. As you develop those callouses too you'll find things easier.

Hi Zak
Nice to meet you. I've been playing acoustic for just over a year but I still haven't had the nerve to have a go at playing an electric.

Cheers

Peter

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
