Introducing me
Hello to everyone who reads these posts!
My name is Dugal, I live in Brisbane and I've been playing for a year now. I've been trying to teach myself through listening, reading TABs, magazines, guides and etc. I love fingerpicking because I can directly feel the strings under my fingers. I like pics for making my music louder, but for me it always feels more...detached. As far as styles of music, I like acoustic blues and folk a lot, but really I like just about anything I can wrap my fingers around. All melodies are fun.
I just bough Kirk's book last night. It has already been worth the money and I'm only half way through! Ever since I heard about "tone, tone, semitone, tone, tone, tone, semitone", I knew there had to be a way of generalising all music on the guitar. This is what Kirk's book does. But it is distracting me from my university studies!
Every Monday I can't wait for Kirk's newest lesson . I really enjoy learning them and thinking about the chords. My favourites are the ones where the melody lines fit nicely into chord shapes.
Hopefully I get to know some of you in this Forum.
Dugal.

Hey Dugal. Welcome aboard and thanks for saying all those nice things. Make the 'PlaneTalk' mind-set a habit, and you'll never look back nor will ever get lost again, you'll see. Your fretboard will be as friendly and familiar as your own back yard.
I'll be returning to Tamborine Mountain in a couple of months ... I'll be glad to get home to my back yard.

hi Dugal. Now that you have bought the P.T. book, don't forget to join the P.T. forum so you can join in the discussions and ask any questions about the method.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
