HI

Hello

I have only been playing since christmas, so this is all new to me.

i have learnt quite a few riffs on my brand new acoustic guitar , such as walk this way, the chain, woohoo(killbill), wipeout, all along the watchtower, etc.

anyway, i am usually a keyboard player, but now ive mastered that im choosing to play the guitar. It is really hurting my left wrist!!!

but i have a problem i seem to want to use my thumb for all the strings instead of using my other fingers for the g, b & e. can anyone please give me advise on how to do that, because when learning the house on the rising sun.....its hard!!!

thanks alot,
brett

Gee Brett ... I'm trying to imagine how you could use your thumb for those strings ... had you said the E A D strings, that I can understand, since it's already down there ready to curl around those bass strings.

House of the Rising Sun is a lesson here ... why don't you just watch the movie. You'll see exactly how it's done. Go to http://guitarforbeginners.com/rising/

I actualy saw a blues guy in ottawa who played lead with his thumb only. He had a guitar, as a kid , with action so high it was the only way he could fret it. Strangest thing I ever saw. I wouldn't recomend it. His thumb looked pretty strange from playing that way.
