Hello From New Zealand!
Hi Everyone!
My name is Lindie, but my dog, Lady Jane, seems to have somehow typed Jane into Username that one second . I joined the forum because I have an interest, and that interest is to play Guitar. My big brother is probably crying cause his annoying little pesky sister joined and she's got a whole heap of questions to ask about guitar...(he's the reason I want to play-to be better than him ) Well, Jean borrowed his old beat up guitar so that I can learn to play on it before I get a NEW, IMPROVED guitar and learn to play well enough with it. My first song was Kirk's Blackbird, and I learned it in one day...but I can't play it too fast yet. I'm also having "lessons" with my brother everyday so that I can get better...and he sits, plunking at those tunes while I sit there all day and watch the chords and hammer-ons and pull offs and all those things I have a million questions about .
About me...well, I have my Border Collie, Lady Jane, who I was talking about. She's 8 months old now, red and white, and in 10 more months I'll start training her in Agility, a dog sport. Then there's horses...boy we kids love horses. My brother has his horse and I have my horse and it's horses all over. Also, I love to write! I write stories and I can type faster than my dad, and that's saying alot!
Also...you guys have probably noticed...I talk alot. I'm probably boring you'll so I'll stop my introduction here.
Until my first Post (Which will be about this funny thing on the guitar...I don't know what it's called yet but hope to find out now!)
Lindie

Hi Lindie, you seem to be a chip off the old block, very enthusiastic with an affinity for smilies. You have two great teachers in Jean and Kirk so I'm sure you'll make good progress. Now if Jean is mean to you in, in the way that only big brothers can be, just tell us and we'll sort him out for you.

Hi Simon and Clancy! I've heard about you before from my brother. Yes, Jean knows I joined and he just showed me another tune to play and I played it through! I just got confused cause it went like this in one part...I'm going to make a post of that so look in General!

Hi Lindie
I am one of the other Kiwis to visit here every day or so, it is an awesome site that Kirk & Clancy provide. As said above, between Kirk & Jean teaching you, you will be flying along in no time, & what is really cool is that you can borrow Jean's copy of 'Plane Talk'. How cool is that!
When you get the basics sussed out an essential part of your repertoire in NZ is to learn to play 'Loyal' by Dave Dobbyn, kiwis love it! A real crowd pleaser!
I am sure you will love it here, just don't tell any Aussie jokes & Clancy will be nice to you.
Dan
PS. Note to Clancy: I see there aren't any All Blacks with handbag smileys yet.

LOL, dan! I've heard about you too! I know a few good Aussie jokes, but if you say so... Yup, I've read Plane Talk! But I can't play fast yet lol...I'll make it to the headlines sooner than you know with my brother and all these lessons...no sleep...very late! And he's busy playing guitar again, and he's doing those difficult F's that I can't do yet...

Hi Jane, sister of Jean and in reality, Lindie. Don't see too many red & white Border Collies. Great dogs, I've had two of the regular black and whites in my time. Welcome and good luck with learning guitar.

Maybe Lady Jane is trying to tell you something? I wonder what it could be?

Welcome aboard, Lindie. I didn't know Jean had a sister ... He's quite the guy, glad to hear he's twanging away. I hope he doesn't pull his 'Moderator' rank on you too much here!
Thanks for joining.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
