Hi All

Hi,

Stumbled on to this site through Google Video of all places, browsed for blues guitar lessons and viewed a video of Kirk and Pick n' Grin, and another which inspired me was a Google Vid of a chap doing Mean Ol' World and Colours which were real traditional deep south blues. Thats what I'm aiming at being able to play, nothing more.

Always had a deep desire to play blues slide guitar since way back and finally went out of the way to buy an old acoustic and brass slide for the pinky.
Favourite performer is Neil Young and hope to get in to some of his riffs down the track as well.
Won't attempt singing as I have enough problems with howling dogs around here, will eventually set up a harmonica.....long way from that though, one small step at a time.

Really excited about this and cautiously optimistic as the fingers on my left hand have all been broken on many occasions so my first step is to exercise the flexibility in the joints as much as possible and see if they'll loosen up.

Nice to be here and thanks.

Maybe not as long as you think mate. I started on the harp after only six months of learning the guitar. It's great to learn 'em in tandem. And just wait 'til you perform the two together; that'll be a moment you'll never forget!

Thanks for the welcome gang, cheers.
Can play a blues harp fine, but never got past House of the Rising Sun on the guitar lol. Now that was around 1973 on a ship in the tropics up near Singapore and some lucky kid may have found a nice shiny new guitar washed up on a beach in the region.

Hope its ok, but I would like to link off to a small video on my FTP site if I could please, so you can get an idea of what I would dearly love to be able to play at a campfire.
Don't really feel the need to get any further advanced than this, know my limits and this example would be the ultimate. If I can master this would be more than happy.

The clip is DivX AVI - 4.5mbs.

Gonna replace the vocals with my old harp.

Hey Moonshine,
The cool thing about all we learn here is that we go BEYOND our assumed limitations! I thought I knew my limits too, but have been very plesantly suprised with how much farther I've been able to go!
Welcome

Dawn

Welcome Moonshine. As you can see already, there is plenty of encouragement in these forums.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
