Hi! Names jeff.
Hi everyone, been reading and trying to learn off your forums for a couple weeks.
I must say, playing the guitar is hard work and takes some dedication, of which i'm trying to find the time to dedicate to.
I have always been a huge music fan, i mean almost every single genre, from Hardcore heavy metal to the blues, from metallica to steve earle, from Townes Van Zandt to skinny puppy. I don't care about labels, i just like what moves me. I got into heavy music certian groups of friends, as is how i got into techno, rap (very certain types though) new wave and even new age. My dad got me into rock, he was a huge rock fan, all the british music which sculpted rock and roll, like The beatles, led zeppelin, Rolling stones ..Etc... To blue grass, blues and even disco. I know alot about music and get calls to solve arguements about bands songs etc all the time from my friends. ( Although i still call my dad till this day for the big stumpers) Which is why i' alway seem to get embarrassed when people ask what instrument i play.
I played the trombone for a couple months when i was 15 and gave it up, but thats about the extent of my music abilities. I have been trying the true beginners lessons from this site and just wanted to say THANK YOU, I can almost pull off Knocking on Heavens door.
I am still having a hard time with switching chords but, i am pretty stoked that i can sometimes do it.
I do intend on getting lessons now, which i wouldn't have without this site, because i was afraid i would waste my money by not going to them(i have a bunch of useless exercise and other things iv'e spent money on which i never use) but by googling and finding this i have actually tried and have been progressing (slowly) to where i know, with effort i can learn this instrument.
So HI and THANKS for the lessons and a valuable forums.
Jeff.

Hi there Jeff
Welcome to the forum.
I am also working my way through Knocking on Heaven's Door and finding that my chord changes are getting quicker but somedays they sound better than others . Suppose it's just a matter of keeping at it.
Good luck

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
