G'day
Hi, I'm 27 years old from Australia. I purchased my first guitar about a month ago, & whilst having a great time learning, I am struggling. So far, I have blisters on my fingers (which I'm told is a good thing - "toughen's up those hands") and I know G, C & D but it takes me about 10 seconds to change hand position to the next chord. Think I'm a long way off playing an actual song.... anyways, I'm sure this site will be of great help.

Hiya Albert, great to have you here on the forums
Redness and pain in the fingertips and the develment of callouses is quite natural and required when starting out on the guitar. However, you mention BLISTERS, which is not a good thing. If you really have liquid-filled blisters on your fingertips you better give the respective fingers some rest, because a ruptured blister means the local skin is no longer intact and that will take you out of the running for quite some time. Just be careful!

Hi there Albert
Good to hear from you and welcome to the forum . I started about a month ago too but have taken it relatively easily (perhaps half to three quarters of an hour each day). Have now developed little hardened areas on finger pads which I'm really proud of (strange that). Just keep practicing those chord changes (fingers permitting)......you do get quicker.
Good luck and hope your fingers are better soon.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
