Hi new here!
Hi all,
I have had my acoustic for awhile now I found this forum and website and I am not sure where to start. I have been trying to learn new chords, G is really hard for me, I can't seem to get my finger position right and I don't know if it is how I hold my hand or fingers or both. Anyway, wish me luck!!

Welcome Sarlett1939
G is not really hard, its probably just the position your arm and wrist are in, keep at it, move things around and you'll eventually get it

Thanks for all the encouragement. I was reading about fingernails on here...I guess I shouldn't have cut mine.

Welcome Scarlett, try to stay relaxed while you're learning chords, keep trying, it will come good eventually.

Hi Scarlett
Welcome aboard! Just stick with it and you'll soon be fretting the G chord like it's nothing at all. Perseverance is the key!

Hi and and welcome
The G chord is like a G string at first uncomfortable but after a while it feels natural

Good luck doll. Take a good look at the lessons. Sometimes it's even the dumbest thing that can stop you from forming a descent chord. Make sure your thumb is in the right position, and that your fingertips are put straight on the chords (not flat)
Even your nails could become a problem if they get too long

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
