Welcome HD Here would be a good place to start.
Brand new to playing the guitar?...read this first.
Ask lots of questions if you get stuck on anything, It takes time to get started with guitar so be patient with yourself. Time and practice will do the trick.

Golf and playing guitar have a lot in common now that I think about it.
You don't want to slice your ball or your fingers on the strings.
The proper grip is crucial for both.
Warmups before you start.
visualizing where the ball or fingers need to go.
A smooth stroke for swinging and strumming.
Good relaxed body posture.
You want a hole in one for both ( acoustic only)
Har. Maybe your golf will improve as your guitar playing does. BONUS
There are major differences.
Your a lot closer to the 19th hole ( eapecialy if your playing your axe next to the fridge.)
Golf is centered around 18 holes.
The guitar is centered around only one
The guitar is much easier to break over your knee than a golf club, but more expensive to replace in most cases.
Golf clubs thrown into water hazards sink
Guitars float.
That is all I can think of at the moment.
Hmmm. If you only played 9 holes would that mean you were playing a ukelele?
This post should be taken at face value. Whats the value of a good club face anyway?
Thank you, thank you I will be here all week. Har.

I agree with All Thumbs here Golf is hard so is the Guitar But only when first starting out I've been learning since November 2004 , I've been playing golf since 1889 .
I claim to be learning both

Nice one Marty, about the only thing you might have left out in the case of electric guitars anyway, is that you need a caddie for all of the paraphenalia and a fat wallet helps a lot.
