Greetings from PA
hey everyone, just wanted to introduce myself. im new to the forums and new to guitar. Recently picked up a Yamaha F310 acoustic for $30 from a friend (amazing shape). and have been playing for about 2-3 hours a day, trying to learn. i have been playing piano since i was 6 (im 20 now) and have been told i have a good ear for music, so i decided to try and pick up guitar. Any advice for a beginner would be appreciated, best of luck to you all.

Welcome, (if your buddy has any more gems he's eager to sell...OOOPS! I forgot, I'm not allowed for a while!)

Playing guitar is like playing 6 pianos at the same time. Once you see that, you will find it a lot easier to get into. Use what you already know.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
