Your welcome, glad you found us... usually a couple of weeks or so will toughen up those finger tips...depending on how often you play....enjoy

Not as well as I would like to, but it's a great journey...
Actually I have been playing for almost two years now, and tinkered with the bass guitar before that, but I'm not as disciplined as I could be.

thanks windsong.
Ive been playing 2 weeks now & my finger tips are getting tougher already...i play a good few hours now & only a week ago could only play for a few minutes.
I use the word 'play' in the broadest sense of course!

glad to hear the good news, if you count and stomp your foot while practicing this helps keeps the pain far from your mind

Hey ouchiefingers, good to hear your fingers are hardening up, the sore fingers are one of the downsides of starting up guitar, one of the brickwalls we hit on the learning curve, when I started my dog used to get up and walk away the minute I picked up the guitar didn't even give me a chance to start playing, thankfully she doesn't do it any more so I assume I've got better, hope you're enjoying playing and have fun

Hi ouchie, Welcome.

I too have not long been playing after a long long spell away from my guitar.
if as you say your fingers are toughening up after a couple of weeks your doing well.
when mine were a bit sore I played around with lead tunes for a while, just to give my fingers a rest from chords, it worked for me. good luck with your progress.

Thanks for the welcome JayJim & knight.
yes..2 weeks ago today i bought my guitar.
1 question though...aren't there any other easy songs to learn from the basic chord chart apart from 'Kumbaya', 'Swing low..','Jamaican Farewell', 'Auld Lang Syne', 'Michael, row the boat..'..etc...
These song are not only driving me crazy but i think my dog wants to run away!

For so-called 'easy songs' Look in this forum for this thread:
