As you can see they are quite different than regular guitars. The number of strings and tuning. The skills are not going to be easily transferable to regular guitar tuned to standard.
Outside of the look and being dedicated to a style employing that kind of instrument, I don't see the point. You can tune a regular guitar to that tuning and just play 4 strings.
My thoughts are if you are committed to the styles those guitars are built for then go for it. I would noodle on my regular guitar in that style first to make sure that it was what I wanted.
