Hello fellow guitar players

Just joined yesterday and thought I'd say hello. Been playing off and on for years and years and still can't play worth a wit. So I just play for myself as I get real nervous in front of people.

Hi akuleana, and welcome

I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's,
And his hair was perfect.

Welcome, akuleana. It really helps learning if you can get over your shyness and play with someone else if at all possible.

Hi akuleana.

Welcome to the forum, it would be good for you if you could share what you've learned even if it's just with Family and Friends, they will know that you're still learning so won't be too hard on you, nerves and shyness affect quite a few of us here, the bottom line is a fear of failure and embarrasment but we need to face these Demons to progress, when I first played for my Wife I was nervous but I just said bear with me it won't be perfect, that was a small step but it's helped me with my playing and I always try out new tunes with her to get feedback, if we play on our own we always have a biased and sometimes negative opinion of our abilities it's better to get feedback from someone it usually turns out we're better than we think we are, and if we're not we can work on it and ask for feedback on our progress, lifes too short to live in the shadows of fear, and we only have one crack at it.

On a lighter note when I first started playing I played in front of my Dog, every time I started playing she got up and walked off.
Two years down the line now and when I start playing she stays put, hopefully this means I've improved, then again she's getting a bit old so maybe she's just gone deaf

Welcome. After you have uploaded some of your playing and singing here, you will find it a lot easier to play for others. We are a very supportive bunch here.

Hi Akuleana.

I haven't quite got over my nerves yet either but the members of this site are very supportive and give good advice. I am hoping to buy some recording stuff this month so that I can post my efforts as I would really like to know if I am progressing.

Anyway, good luck.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
