Jumping right in

Hi all,

Although I have owned, A Fender Strat, my guitar since just before my kids were born, a little over 10 years ago, it wasn't until a few weeks ago that I have actually tried to seriously play something (other than just goofing around with it every now and then) and I already have my first gig lined up. I'm playing the rhythm part of "Taking Care of Business" in an all employee band at our company's annual meeting on January 17. Nothing like jumping right into the fire! I had the lead guitarist show me how to play it. It doesn't seem too hard, except the stretch of it is murder on the my wrist at times, causing me to not finger it perfectly every time, but they haven't kicked me out of the band yet, so I guess I'm close enough for rock and roll. Either that, or they're desperate and can't find anyone else. Whatever the case, it's been so much fun, I plan on taking lessons after its all done so that I'll be able to play more than one song eventually. BTW - Up until yesterday I've been playing through Fender Sidekick15 practice amp, but my brother-in-law just loaned me his Fender Blues Deluxe amp for the performance. I've got to get myself one of those!

flyingpig,

Welcome to GFB & B. Lots to learn and read.

I'm from the Queen City, so I know all about flying pigs. And for some reason, the Grandkids call me PiggyPaw. Go figure!

Good luck on your gig ... but I'm sure you'll do just fine!

Best,

**
