Guitar Virgin
Just wanted to pop in and introduce myself, my name is Tommy and I hail from the Katrina Zone...I mean South Lousiana. I was glad to find a site with such a variety of people who play guitar, from beginner to expert you have it all here in one great location. I for one have never played before and just started to learn. I just ordered my first guitar and can't wait till it gets here! I hope to be really good at it one day. I'm not totally ignorant to the music industry though as I use to have my own Entertainment Management and Booking Agency here in LA. I always wished I was on the other side of the spectrum though and had a great love for music. I've had the luxury of working with some of the great musicians/bands out there (REO Speedwagon, 38 Special, Bad Company) and enjoy just about every style of music...except Blue Grass I guess, I mean it's nothing personal I just can't get into it.
Anyway, enough about me, I am really looking forward to learning as much as I can from you guys because lets face it, I'm not getting any younger!
Tommy

Thanks Allthumbs!
I'm looking forward to getting started. One of my good friends was the lead singer and played guitar in one of the bands I managed, he tried teaching me in the rare time either one of us had time so I learned a little but that was over 10 years ago so I don't remember anything he taught me. I hope it will be like riding a bike!

If you haven't read this already Brand new to playing the guitar?...read this first. - it'll help you find your way around the forum and the site.

Good to have you hear. I would also like to hear how things are going for you down in LA these days.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
