Hey there from Australia(Actually a Kiwi though)
Hi there to all the fellow guitar players!
Watching the PicknGrin videos over at ultimate-guitar.com and he made reference to this site so I'd thought id check it out, and its awesome to see so many like-minded people sharing all their advice, and just chatting about guitar!!
Anyways, i started playing when I was 13 (im 24 now) and played for 3 years, but then when hitting scales and all that scary stuff i sort of put the guitar down and didnt pick it back up. (And maybe the fact the girls and video games kinda come along) But last March when I went back to New Zealand for a holiday I saw the old Ibanez electric sitting gathering dust so I sent it over and thought Id get back into it, the Electric wasnt really my style so I bought a basic $200 acoustic (Which i still use at the beach and take to work) and hit the guitar bigtime. 10 months on, have upgraded to a Maton em225c Acoustic/Electric which is an awesome guitar. Practise everyday and am trying to focus on acoustic blues and fingerstlyle guitar.
My main influences are David Gilmour(Pink Floyd), Lindsay Buckingham(Fleetwood Mac) Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits) and Tommy Emmanuel. Love kicking back with a few beers and mates and having everyone sing away with me and I belt out some classic tunes!!
Anyways, thats enough rambling from me, take it easy everybody!
Nathan

Welcome to you Nathan. I've never been to New Zealand but I hear it's got some beautiful scenic spots over there.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
